Week of 7th Oct - It's gonna be a fun week

Desh ki Beti – Nandini

Hindi entertainment shows are moving away from the stereotypes of Kyunki Saas bhi Kabhi Bahu thi’ and ‘Kahaani ghar Ghar Ki’ and exploring new genres like mythology and crime thrillers, and now a Political Drama called ‘Desh ki Beti – Nandini’. With the nation awakening to the issue of women’s empowerment and safety, this show is clearly earning some brownie points with the rhetoric trailers of the show asking, “If a women can run a household, can’t she run a nation?” We have always been questioning the role of Indian television in downplaying the role of women but if this show manages to answer the question above, then some clichés might get broken. We are going to see a middle class woman who carries the responsibility of a family, morally as well as financially, rise to political power. The show also has another affluent and politically powerful family with a young son, which might remind you of our very own political party in power. It will be interesting to see how their stories get entwined to give rise to this women centric political drama. Kriti Nagpure, who was last seen in ‘Parichay’ has bagged the role of the female lead and the male lead will be played by a newbie by the name of Rafi Malik. This is the latest prime time show on Sony TV starting 7th October at 9 PM.

Suits

For the followers of English shows, the good news is that ‘Suits -Season 3 is premiering this week. Suits is a corporate drama which has elements of witty humor, charm, suspense, power struggles and romance. Season 3 promises to be very engrossing, with old relationships getting re-ignited, and numerous legal battles being fought to gain control of the firm. Those who haven’t really followed the show through its last 2 seasons, it’s time to hop on and enjoy some Suits, because nothing tells you how to play a man, better that Suits; and no one says random crap better than these bunch of arrogant corporate lawyers. So do not forget to tune into Comedy Central on Mondays to Thursdays at 10 PM to get lawyered.

How I Met Your Mother

And, of course, all of us have been wondering for years now if Ted Mosby ever found a mother for his kids, or maybe just adopted them. Finally, ‘How I Met Your Mother, now in its finale season, promises to tell us more about the mother, whose yellow umbrella was the only sign of her existence until now. While Barney and Robin are getting over their marriage hiccups, Lily and Marshal are moving on in their lives. Three episodes have been aired so far. Catch the fourth episode this week on Star World and get closer to the long held mystery.
