Rebranded VH1 hits 26.2% viewership hike with Global Citizen Festival India Live; more on channel’s viewership trends

VH1 kickstarted its re-branded journey with a successful Live coverage of the Global Citizen Festival India on 19th Nov 2016. Aired on VH1 from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the telecast garnered 2 million viewers across India.

Successfully meeting the channel’s aim to boost original content and simultaneously set the stage for International music, the telecast gave newly branded VH1 a 26.2% jump in viewership compared to the previous two weeks.

Interestingly, 86% of those who watched Global Citizen Festival India LIVE on VH1 have consumed content in English movie channels for the months of October and November. What else do they consume on Television?

Bengaluru FC wins interests of Football viewers across India during AFC Cup 2016

Being the only Indian football franchise that made it to tournament finals, Bengaluru FC garnered significant viewership for both its semi-final and final matches in the Asian Football Cup 2016.

Oct 2016: Star Gold jumps 8% higher Weekend Viewership with 2 Movie Premieres

This October, two popular Hindi movies premiered on Star Gold: 'Pink' starring none other than the Big B of Bollywood - Amitabh Bachchan, and Disney India's 'Mohenjo Daaro' starring Hrithik Roshan. The channel's weekend viewership moved up 8% compared to the previous month. Interestingly, both movies witnessed higher viewership in the afternoon telecasts compared to the Prime-time telecast. Kabaddi World Cup 2016 attracts more than just Kabaddi fans across India

After nine years of no play, the Kabaddi World Cup is back this year, and for the first time - broadcast LIVE on Indian Television. Witnessing the Indian Kabaddi Team’s third consecutive win in the World Cup, the tournament garnered a massive viewership of 74 million unique TV viewers in India.

200 Mn viewers watch India Vs NZ series: ODIs garner IPL level viewership

New Zealand’s Cricket tour of India coincided perfectly with the Diwali festivities: the Test matches followed by India’s glaring victory at the ODIs attracted a massive viewership of 200 million unique TV viewers in India. In a show of high viewership loyalty, 69% of viewers watched both the Test series and ODIs.

The ODI game format garnered 64% higher viewership than the Test matches, even rivalling the viewership numbers of the world’s largest viewed cricket league - the IPL.
