La Liga stars join 5.9 Mn TV viewers at El Clasico Live in India

The first El Clasico face off this La Liga season was more than the usual Live Football affair in India. Two former La Liga stars - Luis Garcia and Frederic Kanoute accompanied Indian TV viewers at open air telecasts in New Delhi and Mumbai.

Aired live on Sony ESPN and Sony Six, the match garnered an overall viewership of 5.9 Mn viewers in India - much higher than the opening day viewership received by other international Live Football telecasts like UEFA Euro and Premier Futsal League.

Bengaluru FC wins interests of Football viewers across India during AFC Cup 2016

Being the only Indian football franchise that made it to tournament finals, Bengaluru FC garnered significant viewership for both its semi-final and final matches in the Asian Football Cup 2016.

Beyond Football: 31.6 Mn viewers watch the opening of Hero ISL

What became the world’s fourth biggest football league with its very first game season in 2014, the Indian Super league (ISL) is back this year with an opening day that received 31.6 million TV viewers in India. This number is close competition to the most recent season of Pro Kabaddi League which saw an opening of 34.4 million viewers.

Sharing only 2.8% of viewers with the UEFA Euro football tournament this year. Has the Indian Super league successfully gone beyond just football fans in India?

Futsal – it’s not just about football
